T'lie allocation of space for the Auckland Exhibition has been completed, and within a few days each exhibitor wilt receive a lithograph plan showing tho position allotted. Altogether 58,000 square feet of exhibition space lias been marked off in the main block, 20,000 feet in tlio machinery court, and 18,000 feet more will bo provided by the erection of additional buildings at tlie hospital end of tlio ground overlooking tho trio of lakelets w'hicli bavc been embraced in the exhibition area. This last structure should contain a very interesting portion of tho exhibits, inasmuch as the provincial courts and the displays-,of Government Departments will appear there. TROUBLE OYER WARSHIP VISIT. Westiiort, Juno 10. At a meeting of tho 'R-eception Committeo in connection with tho visit of H.M.S. New Zealand, strong disapproval was expressed of the action of whoever was responsible for tho detention of tho Tutanekai at Grcynlouth last Saturday, to the detriment of tho people of Westport. A sub-committeo was set up to write to tho Minister for Marine on the question. BAYSWATER FIRE. Auckland, June 10. A new seven-roomed house at Bays- : water, owned by D. L. O'Conuell, a recent arrival from Wellington, was destroyed by fire, together with a quantity . of furniture stored iu the building. Jenner, secretary of tho South Island Brass Bands' Association, states that the Invercargill committee informed tho association it was writing to Mr.Bentley (Sydney), Mr. Jones (Ueelong), Mr. Code (Melbourne), and Mr. W'ado (tt'anganui). Later the committee' recommended the appointment of Mr. Jones. Tho appointment of tho judge for annual contests rests with tho association only, and tho association unanimously selected Mr. Wade. Invercargill, Juno 10. At a meeting of tho Band Contest Committee to-night 'it was decided that a telegram bo sent to tho association, pointing out" that several bands had notified that they would not take part in tho contest unless a judge from outside tho Dominion was appointed, and to ask tho association to reconsider their decision, in regard to Mr., Jones's appointment. At the Magistrate's Court to-day, Hugh Robertson ploaded guilty to breaches of tho liquor law, and keeping liquor for sale, and was fined in tho aggregate, £50 and costs. Timaru, June 10. Tho Honorary Territorials' Association was initiated at a meeting held this afternoon; Colonel Bailey (ex Durham Regiment, and formerly many years officer commanding tho South Canterbury Volunteers) presided. Over 80 names are already enrolled of ex-military men 'ind exvolunteers. It is proposed to restrict tho membership to ox-members of any branch of tho defence forces.
