Australasia, M'Loughlin (America) defeated Doust (Australasia) in three straight sets: 6—l, G—l, G-2. The severity of M'Loughliu's service returns caused the downfall of Doust, who was unable to handle lho balls so terrifically .sent by M'Loughlin, in a maimer suitable with consistent placing. After shaking M'Loughliii's hand, he seized the umpire's megaphone, and proposed that the crowd should join him in giving three cheers for the American team. The cheers wer.! given with a will, and cheers for the Australians followed. Williams (America) beat Rico (Australasia) by three sets to two: l—G, J—G, G—l, 9—", G—2. Points for Williams, 155; fol liiee, 145. Liko Doust, Rico fed the ball low, preventing smashing tactics. Ho held the Amerienn in the first two sets, but in the third set Williams managed, by desperate smnshes, to start a winning streak. He took the fourth set after an exciting woe-saw game, and finished Hie match by sensational serving anil volleying, which tired the Australian. INTERNATIONAL HARD COURT CHAMPIONSHIP. ANTHONY WILDING BEATEN, Paris, Juno 9. Freitzheim defeated Wilding, G—B, 2—G, G—2, 4—6, in the international hard court championship.
