The first case of the kind yet heard in Australia was that of a compulsory trainee at Ballarat, who, having undergone a term of imprisonu/ent, wad declared by the Police Magistrate as being under tho provisions of the Defence Act, "a person of notoriously bad character, ineligible for military service."
