Mr. Frank Pen'n has retired from tho position of lion, secretary and treasurer of tho local Horticultural and Industrial Socioty, after having occupied the office since the society's inception in 1898. At tho annual meeting of the society on Friday last, Mr. Penn was urged to again accopt office, but declined, stating that ho thought it would be in tho interests of the society if a change were made, and business ties prevented his continuing in office. Mr. Penn's successor has not yet been appointed.
