ISAACS-CHESTERTON LIBEL SUIT.

The hearing of the libel action brought by Mr. Godfrey Isaacs, who floated tho; Marooni Company, against Mr. Gocil Chesterton, editor of the "Eye Witness," for a scries of attacks on him, has been concluded. Mr. Justico Phillimoro, in summing up, said that the English Marconi Companymight claim against Mr. Marconi and Mr. Godfrey Isaacs in connection with tho profits made by tho placing of the' American company's shares on tho market, but that had nothing to do with Mr. Chesterton's libel. t Mr.' Chesterton was fined .£IOO, with costs. He was released oil bail until Monday, and will then be imprisoned until he pays the fino. LORD MURRAY OF ELIBANK. , (Rec. June 9, 11.40 p.m.) , London, June 9. Tho many comments to the Liberal newspapers indicate that tho Marconi disclosures are adversely affecting Liberalism. • The "Daily Chronicle" welcomes the result of the Chesterton trial. i The "Daily News" describes the Mar- J coni Committee as "a discreditable centra of partisan conflict, as offensive on the ono side as on the other. It is high that Parliament insisted on receiving the Committee's report." The paper adds that a frank debate in the House ''would clear the atmosphere of tho poisonous suspicions which political venom has engendered."
