A peculiat position has arisen in connection with the appointment of a Judge for the band contest to be held, here this year.' The local committee Tecommended Mr. A. Wado, of Wangonul, to tho South Island Bflrfd Association for appointment, but, not receiving a reply prior to its next meeting, the loonl committeo j forwarded a second recommendation in favour of Mr. Percy Joaes, bandmaster ot Iho Qeelong Municipal Bahd. It ras understood locally that this recommendation would cancel that in favour of Mr. Wade. However) at the meeting of the local committee to-night, a letter was received from Mr.'Jenner, secretary of tho South Island Association, stating that at a meeting of tho executive,, it was decided that tho recommendation of Mi. Jones could not be agreett to. The exectitivo has been advised that althougfh Mr. Jones may bo a Successful conductor of lands, ho is too young for tho position, and too inexperienced in ndjudicating to entrust him with the duties of Judging A grado bands in so important a contest. Tlio executive, acting under tbo authority of Rule SG, havo appointed Mr. Wade to tho position. . Tho local oommittco passed a resolution asking tha association to reconsider tho decision, a 8 there was a possibility of the contest beim; abandoned unless Mr. Jones was appointed. f
