MAN IN CUSTODY. On the night of June 2 trouble occurred in Taranaki Street, near tho corner of Haining Street. Thore were Eovernl men on the spot, and out of tho affair Alexander M'Lean emerged with ft severe-ly-damaged noso. Ho was attonded by a doctor, removed to the publio hospital, and, next day, operated on. Yesterday he was discharged' from tho institution. It is said that tho wound recoived by M'Lean was inflioted with a knife. Tho polico liavo boen investigating tho case for tho past fortnight, aud yesterday Detectivo-Sergoimt Cnssells arrested Jamos Kcaiinell oil suspicion. Ho will bo brought before tho Magistrate's Court this morning, charged with wounding M'Lean and causing him grievous bodily harm.
