BOOTH MEMORIAL.

i THE COLLEGE DESCRIBED. THE FOUNDATION STONE. TO BE LAID BY THE PREMIER. ' Tho foundation-stone of the Wellington Booth Memorial Collego, in Wordsworth Street, is to be laid this afternoon by tho Prime Minister, Hon. W. P. Masse?. Commissioner Ifichnrds will also place a stone on behalf of tho Salvation Army. The-proposed William Bootii Memorial College will, stand on a magnificent block of land over 100 feet in width and between 300 and -JOO in deptli. The land is situated in Wordsworth Street, close to the Wellington Bowling* Club's green. . The section faces slightly north-east, and gradually rises with a. slope from the frontage. The site of the building itself will be in the centre of the block, thus giving: it a lino elevation, From the many view vantages of doors and windows, the observer will catch extensive panoramic pictures of the city, the eyes also resting upon tho magnificent .stretch of waters of Port Nicholson, whilst in tho far distance may bo seen Petone, tho Hutt Valley, and Rinyutaka. Ranges. Tho site is an ideal 0110 for pictniresqnoness. The structure will be erected in brick. The front elevation will consist of two stories and basement, tho remaining portion of the building consisting of two stories only. The design selected' ,was prepared by Messrs. Peara and ■■Quick, architects, Customfiouse Quay, and the institution, it is claimed, will be as perfect as such should be for the purposes proposed, to wit, tho training of malo and female officers . Accommodation Is provided for 25 ot each sax, with provision for" a full stall of teachers, etc. Summarised brieflr, the accommodationis as follows:—sft bedrooms for the cadets in training, G bedrooms for officials on the staff, 2 largo classrooms, 2 teachers common rooms, 2 large diningrooms, _ I Icitchen and scullery, 2 libraries, 2 principal's rooms, 1 Teception room, 1 large lecture hall seating 150 pe-rsons, 8 bathrooms. The land lends itself well to the formation of a. temce, which will give elegance to tho building, which has been designed.
