Mr. Lockwood, n mining engineer, gavo evidenco that ho had practised in Australia and N?w Zealand. Jlr. Godfrey Isaacs had wished him to givo a corlilicato that tho general oro in tho Clogwell liiino was worth fifteen pennyweights when, it had only yielded five, 110 declared that Godfrey Isaacs hold shares in tho St. David's mino under tho name of "Briggs." Cross-examined, Lockwood Baid tho story (previously cabled) that ho had mado a threat to shoot Mr. Isaacs wag absurd. Ho declared that ho liad knocked dowm Jtr. Isaacs Vhcn tho latter had insulted him for declining to sign a falso certificate as to tli? yield of tho St. David's mine. He admitted that 110 had not informed tho directors of theso matters. 110 admitted dining subsequently with Mr. Isaacs. Tho Postmaster-General (Mr. Herbert Samuel), in his evidence, denial that himself or any of his family had over invested in Marconi 6harcs. WITNESS BREAKS DOWN. < • (Rec. June 8, 8.5 p.m.) London, Juno 7. The "Spectator," noting Mr. Salaman's evidenco as trustee in the estate of Fenner, tho bankrupt stockbroker, says that the comments arising in the public mind regarding this "purely accidental discovery" is another Ministerial transaction inevitably very disturbing. Mo naro asking: "If Fanner's bankruptcy has brought this new fact to light, what other facts may be conceal:d by accidents working for obscurity and not for light?" Tho "Times" says that among tho .Liberals anger is rising at tho revelation Of Lord Elibank's further transactions in American "Marconi's," with some anxiety as to what is the trust fund mentioned by Mr. Salaman. Jtr. Salaman gave evidence on behalf of Feimer regarding certain hitherto ' unrepealed transactions in American "Marconis" by Lord Murray of Elibank, in addition to those ho had purchased through' Sir Rufus Isaacs. EXPLANATIONS DEMANDED. AS TO LORD MURRAY'S SHARES. London, Juno G. S'evoral newspapors insist that Lord Murray of Elibank, who is abroad, should ba required to givo evidence in explanation of his purchase of 3000 shares, some of which wero entered in tho books of Fenner (a stockbroker) as belonging to Lord Murray's trust account. IRISH NATIONALISTS UNEASY. MARCONI AFFAIR IMPERILLING HOME RULE. (Rec. Juno 8, 5.5 p.m.) ' London, June 7. The "Times" Dublin correspondent states that tho general feeling among the Nationalists is that things are "going wrong," and that the prospects of Homo Rule aro moro uncortain. The latest developments of tho Marconi affair have produced consternation. Nationalists privately admit that the Government's character and stability have received a serious blow, and the Unionist organisations aro gathering ready for an early general olection, which, is now believed to bo inevitable.
