RAILWAY APPEALS.
FURTHER CASES. Thto Railway Appeal' Board continued its sitting in Wellington' on Saturday. Dr. M'Arthur, S.M., presided, and tliero were associated with him on the Bench Messrs. C. P. Ryan and D, Dwyer. Mr. 11. Davidson represented tlve Railway Department, and Mr. M. Dennchy appeared for the appellants. The hearing of evidence in respect of tiro appeal of Ernest Austin Tomk'ins, electrical lines inspector, against his being superseded on the classification. list through the promotion of foremen and ticket inspectors from Grado 10 to Grado 0 was concluded. Tiio board reserved its decision. Stevenson Wright, stationniosler, Cartertoii, and .T. W. Wilson, clerk, Masterton, appealed against their being superseded 011 tho classification list of 1012. Wright objected to tho promotion of two officers, and Wilson to tho promotion of one. Decision was reserved. E. Cloke, storemmi, Wellington, appealed against his reduction to the position of porter. In this oaso Mr. Martin Lee appeared for tho appellant. The charge on which Cloke had been reduced waS that ho wronglv loaded a wagon which was subsequently derailed. After hearing evidence tho board upheld the appeal. Tho sitting will be continued this evening.
