OTAKI NOTES.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the Town Board was heßl on Thursday afternoon. Present: Commissioner W. M'Kegg (chairman), J. Mackie, T-. H. Bright, A. W. Skerman, and Byron Brown. Correspondence was read from P. H. Bright, asking permission to erect a balcony over the footpath at tho Family Hotel, to ?S?o Mill Road and Matino Street.—Application granted, provided the by-laws were complied with. Messrs. ICirk and Eapley (solicitors) wrote claiming damages on behalf of Henry Bills for a steer killed 'while being driven to tho pound by the board's ranger. Tho matter was referred to the board's solicitor. Letters, in response to the board's inquiries relative to lighting, were received from various borough councils.—lt was decided to secure estimates for high pressure, drainage, and lighting. It was decided to improve the Kangiura Road, secure a quantity of weed destroyer, and secure on up-to-date plan of the township.
