SALVATION ARMY.
( DOINGS AT THE CONGRESS.
The Salvation Army Congress continued its sittings yesterday. At the morning session Commissioner Richards addressed tho, gathering at some length on the different sections of the Army work, and held the interest of the gathering of officers for the whole two hours. From his own experience as an ofiicer he was able to speak with personal knowledge of overy section-of work. Major Col Yin, editor of tho "War Cry," wad a paper on The Power of the Press/' having special regard to tho "War Cry/' and the other Salvation Army publications. Major Kirk, trade manager for tho Army, spoke of the development of his branch of tho service, and ot the usefulness to the Arniy of the organisation. Another interesting paper was read by Brigadier Garmichwl on tho test means of securing and training candidates for officcrship. _ in tho afternoon the Commissioner delivered another aiklifcs. Adjutant Melksham, officer in charge of the Vivian Street Citadel, gave advice from his experience on the best nrethods and s'ystem to follow in financing a' corps, Brigadier Glover spolce of how best to reach tho "man in the street," and Major College gave his opinions as to how an open-air meeting ought to be conducted. Last night there was "an ofiicera and soldiers' rally in the Citadel, and tonight there is to be a bands demonstration.
