PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS, i Tho local Boxing Association commence tho first of their season's tournaments on Tuesday next, when tho amateur championships of ths provinco will bo staged, extending over two nights. Excellent entries are reported, not only from tho city and suburbs, but also from outsldo districts, and, with the attendance of visiting competitors, additional keenness and interest aro lent to tho contests. The box plan will open on lYiday, and, £.s a keen demand for tho best seats is expected, intending patrons will do well to book early. HAGEBTY-KEYS MATCH. A meeting of tho committee of the Wellington Boxing Association was 'held last night, Mr. E. Blundell presiding. Discussion was raised on tho question of a match between Hock Keys and Hagerty for .£IOO. _ It was decided to get the principals lo sign on for the match, which will probably take placo early next month. It was also decided that Porter should be written to, asking him if ho was agreeablo to fight under Mio Wellington Association's control, in August. The date for the Ilagerty-Kcys match was not definitely settled, but it will probably bo early liext month. A letter was received from W. Hannan, who has just, returned to Welliugton, stating that ho was willing to fight under iho Wellington Association, and was anxious to have a match with Keys, or nnv other boxer. : Tho donation of ,i gold modal was received from Mr. L. George, and it was decided that this should be awarded to the most scientific boxer at the forthcoming tourney. The secretary was instructed to u-riio thanking Mr. George for tho donalion. Fourteen new members were clectcd. Several minor matters affecting the control of next week's meeting in tho Town Hall were discussed.
