SALE OF LONGBVRN ESTATE.
. COMPETITION VERY KEEN, (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Palmcrston, Juno 4. . A land salft that created more than usual interest was held in the Empire Hall, Palmcrston North, to-day, when the celebrated Longburn estate oi' tho Into Mr. E. J. Eiddiford was offered for sale by auction by Messrs. Abraham and AVilliains. Tho hall was packed with nearly a thousand ■ persons. Tho estate comprises IGSI acres, subdivided into 14 farms, ranging in area from 13 acres to 121 acres, and also 23 quarter-acre town sections, adjoining the Longburn railway station. Every soction offered attracted tho keenest competition, this resulting ill all being sold under tho hammer. Tho farming areas realised prices ranging from .£47 to .£7O per acre, tho avorago prico being about .£55 per acre. The salo can bo desoribed as ono of tho most successful over held in tho Dominion, and,'at its conclusion, tho auctioneers were warmly congratulated by tho vendors.
