WHAT DAY IS THE SABBATH IN NEW ZEALAND?
Tho above was the subject of Pastor Nicld's address in the Tabernacle of the Church of God on Sunday. 'Ho said thero should be no doubt as to the existence of a sacred day at the present time, for'tho Commandment, "Pemember the Sabbath lo keep it holy," is still ono of the Ten Commandments of God, and must ever so remain. The texts of Genesis 2: l-'l, provV that the Sabbath hours were blessed ana iTmctiiiod, which means set apart after tho six working days ended at Kden. Tho sun, by the Creator's appointment, rules tho instituted S'abbn'th Day apparently westward, and every 1001) miles tho ( Sabbath Day would be one hour later all round this globe, right back to Eden, where the day go;s off the earth, and another day begins, i Thus the Sabbath Day would come (o Now Zealand 15 hours after it began at Eden. It is here at Kden, which is on tho meridian of 43 degrees from London, cast, that we must add and drop a day, when we go round tho world. The customary way of correcting tho reckoning of the day in the Pacific Ocean, instead of at Men, causes the day called Sunday to bo really Saturday, aiid what is called Monday to be the genuine' first day of tho week, usually named Sunday. What (rue Christians in New Zealand should do is allow tlio seventh day to come by tho sun's rule, and not by tho' navigator's nnthoritv, and begin to observe the Bible Sabbath at sunset of the day called Saturday, until sunset of tho misnamed Sunday. Tho reason for keeping the day hol ( y should bo in memory of Creation, which obligates both Jews aiul Gentiles, and all created beings to observe it.
