This lie did, and drove the four back to'fho city about au hour later, congratulating himself 011 having had a good fare. When ncaring the city 011 the return journey a halt at a wayside hotel was suggested. Till' four men went in, and the taxidriver awaited their return,, but feeing 110 signs of them after ho had waited for nl-out half an hour, ho went into tho hotel, only to find that his four passengers had left some little time before by a back door.
