HUTT AND PETONE NEWS. (From Oar Special Correspondent.)
DESTRUCTIVE HUTT FIRE. Early yesterday. morning- tho Lower Hutt Fire Brigade' received a call to suppress an outbreak of fire in Camp Boad. Tho dwelling was in full blazo when the brigade arrived, and it was at onco seen that there was no hope for tho houso in which the fire had originated. Nor was there any hope of saying oai immediately adjoining house, which was unoccupied. One of tho houses was occupied by Mr. De Rosa, whose furniture was insured in tho Queensland office for £75. Tho building is owned by the Wellington Building and Investment Company. The empty house destroyed was owned by Mr. Francis. ROWING CLUB BALL. The annual ball in connection with the Petone Rowing Club was held in the Drill Hall, Petone, last evening. There was a very large attendance. The ballroom was prettily decorated with ferns and foliage, wbilo at various points nautical emblems were displayed. Tlio supper tables, were decorated with white chrysanthemums. Amongst those present wero members of kindred clubs from other parts of th 9 Dominion.
