The first was against'a named Mary Harding, for alleged breaking and entering tho residence of Mrs. Brettargh and stealing plate to the. value of £5. Accused was found not guilty. A like deoision was arrived at in the caso of J. S. ltobinson, who was charged with tho of ill 4s. from tho Rutland Hotel bar. Civil business oommonces on Wednesday. Invercargill, Juno 2. Frank James M'Farlane was charged at tho Supreme Court to-day with assault with intent. Tire jury, aftor .i retirement of four hours, wore unable to agree, and a new trial was fixed for Wednesday.
