Thirty thousand workers connected with file Engineering and Allied Trades Federation are idle in the Black Country and the Midlands, owing to strikes against low wages. At the Metropolitan Carriage Works at Birmingham, 5600 men have been locked out because five hundred hands struck work. There is much suffering amongst the women and children.
