At a Chamber of Commerce meeting Jo-night a resolution was passed endorsing the action of the Wellington Chamber in protesting against tho alleged proposal ' of the shipping companies to make a com. pact with the Federation' of Labour to eicluda free labour. UNION CO. & FREE LABOUR. .A PROTEST. . Timaru, June 2. A large and representative meeting of jmployers an<t shippers this afternoon passed tho following resolution, and sent it to tho Union S.S. Company"This meeting deplores tho action of the Union S.S. Company" in employing Federation labourers 'who have broken the agreement repeatedly, instead of omploying men who camo to the assistance of the shipping, companies and enabled vessels to be worked on the occasion of the recent strike, and would ask the Union Company what attitude they intend to adopt in future."
