A WANGANUI WANT.
DEEDS AND DELAYS,
USy TelegTaph.—Bpecla.l Correspondent,) Wanganui, June 1. For some years past efforts have been (made, though, without success, to have a deeds' registry office established in "Wanganui, and complaint is frequently made that the delays in getting registration effected through the Wellington offico are nothing short of scandalous. One gentleman informed a pressman on that he had: been waiting four months to get a deed back from Wellington, and said he knew of a dozen others in a similar position. The matter presses particularly in regard to the transfer of Native land, and the Maoris of this district, who are in ,Dr. Pomare's electorate, feel so incensed over the repeated delays that they are talking of sending an mdigntttion deputation to interview their member. As New Plymouth and Napier each have separate offices, it is considered only reasonable ' that a town and district of the importance of Wanganni should be treated similarly.
