CLYDESDALE HORSE SOCIETY.

ANNUAL REPOIIT. ( The second annual general meeting of members of the Clydesdale Horso Society of tho Dominion of ftew Zealand is to be held- at Paimerston North on June 17. The annual report states, inter alia:— "Tho total on the roll at; April U0 was 3-19, an increase of 132, and was made up as follows:—Life governors, 5; life mem bers, 17; annual members, 327. Schedules for particulars of foals born in 1912 have been issued, and members are notified that those forms must bo returned complete not later than July 1, otherwise they cannot be included in volume, part of tho copy is in the printer's hands, and it is hoped to havo the volume pub' lished and forwarded to members about the end of August. A considerable num* ber of the animals entered have been ex* amined by government veterinary sur« i geons and tup results so far have been highly satisfactory. Members desiring to avail themselves of tho benefits of this scheme should apply to the secretary of the society. The council take this op< portunity to place on record their appro* ciation of the good worktfbeing done in the interest of tho agricultural and horso breediuif community by Dr. Reakes, and of tho great interest lie has shown in tho work of this, society. The council have been in communication with the Minister for Agriculture regarding freight charges on stock from Great Britain to New Zealand and from Jsew Zealand to both North and South American ports. Tho Minister has approached the ship, pinp companies through tho High Commissioner, and it is hoped that his efforts in this direction may meet with tho success their importance deserve.'^ Tho council of the society desiro to bring under tho notice of district socie* I ties the scheme for affiliating district ! agriculture or societies with tho society. Briefly, the offer is, that on payment of one guinea per annum, a district satiety can become affiliated with this society and receive a grant of ono of the Clydesdale' Horse Society s bronze or silver medals and the volume of the Clvdesdalc Stud Book for tho year of affiliation. These aro very handsome medals, struck from tho society's own die; no medals'equal to them arc offered in connection with any society. The council is now prepared to receive applications for affiliation in terms of this scheme.. Each application must bo signed by the secretary of the society applying. Each case will be considered on its mer- ; its, ' and an equitable distribution of , medals will be made.
