SALE OF WORK AT Y.M.C.A
Yesterday evening: a.small sale of work and concert, organised by Mrs. Ryan, was held in the Assembly Hall of the Y.M.C.A., with the object of raising funds for the refurnishing of tho boys' department with books, games, and various other ■pleasant requisites. An interesting feature of tho sale was that a largo proportion of the articles were forwarded or donated by friends living away from the Dominion, and in consequence the collection was both varied and unusual in quality. Many things had come from China and Japan, and thero was also a charming collection of Irish crochct. "he Rev. J. Kennedy Elliott opened the sale, a large number of- people being present. A pleasant interlude to tho business of tho evening was the concert, those contributing to it being Miss Varney Miss Jennings, Mrs. Kyan, Mr. C. \on Keisenberg, Mr. Francis, Mr. Shapcott, and Mr. Jennings, the last-named also acting as the accompanist of tjie evening. Tho stallholders wero Mrs. Ryan, Mrs. Varney. Mrs. Hill, and Miss Richards. The refreshments too in charge of Mrs. \. Stephenson, Miss Copeland, Miss Fraser, Miss Port, Miss Eglin, and Mr. Varney.
