At Itaumai. on Tuesday, .the game firm had a small entry of sheep and a fair yarding of cattle, which sold as under: Sheep; Ewe lambs (email). 10s. Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd.. report having held a. most successful-clearine sale of dairy stock, etc., for Mr. James Bitehie, of Kingston Road, Shannon, on Monday last. Tho cows w«re a nice lot. in good condition, calving early, and they realised from £5 10s. to £11 2s. fid. The whole herd of 26 cows averaged £8 Is. A particularly nico lot of 13 2-year .dairy heifers, in calf, made £6 Is. At their Wanganui sale yesterday Me?ars. Dalgety and Co. had a email yardiner of 1200 sheep and 100 cattle. The bidding was good, all tho principal lines being disposed of under the hammer. Quotations were:— Sheep: Forward ewes, 10s. 24; 4-year Hornney ewes, in lamb, 13s. 6d.; 2-tooth wethers, 165.; 200 forward wethers. 9s. Id. Cattle: Three-year empty heifers, £3 165.: 20months heifers, £2 15s'.; 20-months steers £.3; heifers, in calf, £3 to '£5 Is.; bulls. £3.
ADDINGTON MARKETS. (By Telegraph.—Preso Association.! Chrlstchurch, May 28. At the Addingfon market there were large entris of sheep of all classes, ami fait yardings in other departments. Thoyarding of storo sheep was smaller than for tho previous week. Quotations are:— Ews: Two and four-tooth (small), 13s. Ltd.: 2, 4, and 6-tooth, 125.; 4, 6, and' 8-tooth. lis. fid.; 6 and 8-tooth. lis. lOd. to Ifs.: xtra. to .16s. 10d.: sound mouth (.empty), .'ls. 6d.: full, but sound mouth, 13s. 6d. to 14s. 6d.; full and failing mouth, lis. to 12s. 9d.; ajed sorts, Bs. lid. Wethers: Fourtooth, 14s. 7d.; 4 and 6-tooth, extra forward, I7s. Bd. to 18s. 5d.; 4 and 6-tooth, good, 16s. 6d. to 175.; 2-tooth, 13s. fid. for small to 15s. 3d. for good; 2, 4, and 6-tooth lialfbred, small, 145.; merinos. 7s. to Bs. 6d.: lambs, good rape sorts, 13s. to 155.: fair rape lambs, 12s. to 12s. £d.; good stores, lis. to lis. 9t1.: medium stores,' Bs. 9d. to 10s. 6d.; small sorts. 95.; and wethers, 9s. 9d. There was again a large entry of lambs, tho quality of which was not so good as those that have been coming forward during the season. Export buyers lowered their limits as they consider that of Juto they have been paying too much for ! lambs, and the fo-lling-off in quality which was to be expected at this late season of the year docs not warrant the late high prices being paid., There was, consequently, a drop of Is. to Is. 6d. ■ per head, as compared with last week, and some lots showed even a further falling-oil' in values. Tho rate per lb. was about 53d. to 53d. Tegs made 19s. to £1 2s. 9d.; average weights, 15s.' to 18s. fid.; and light and unfinished, 12s. 6d. to 14s. 9d. Thero was a large entry of fat sheep, totalling over 60C0. The range of prices was:—Extra primo wethers, -to £1 18s.; prime, £1 to £1 65.; others, J,7e. to 19s. 6d.; extra primo cwss, to £1 75.; prime, 18s. to £1 4s. 6d.; medium, 15s. to 17s. 6d!; aged and light, lis. fid. to 14s. fid.; merino wethers', 16s. lid. to 17s. Bd. Tho yarding of fat' cattle totalled 303 head. The demand was irregular, varying greatly at different periods, but the average price of beef showed no change from the previous sale, making £1 Is. to £1 9s. per 1001b.. according to duality. Steers realised £7 7s. 6d. to £11; extra, to £14 £s.; heifers. £6 to £10; and cows, £5 15s. 6d. to £10. The entry of storo cattlo was a small one. Yearlings mado £1 165.; 15 to 18-months 6orts, £2 2s. 6d. to £3; 2-year heifers, £3 10s. to £3 17fl. 6d.; 3-year steers. £6 lCs. to £7; 2-year heifers, £5: and' cows, £1 17s.' 6d. to £4 17s. Dairy cows mado £3 10s. to £11 10s. There Ivas «. medium entry of fat pigs, and the demand showed' an improvement. Choppers realised £3 10s. to £5 103.: heavy baconers, £3 ss. to £3 IBs.; and lighter sorts, £2 103. to £2 18s., equal to 53d. per lb. Heavy porkers made £2 ss. to £2 10s.; and lighter, £1 18s. to £2 25., eouil to 6d. per lb. Store pigs were represented by a mixed entry, and best sorts realised £1 15s. to £2 45.; medium. £1 2a to £1 145.: and small pigs, 19s. to £1 Is. Weaners brought 6s. 6d. for small pigs, to 13s. for good sorts. { BTJItNSIDE MARKET. Duncdin, May 29. At Burnsido market to-dav. 250 fat cattle wero yarded. The entry comprised a fair number of good bullocks, and a good proportion of cows and heifers, and pricos were about tho same as last week's ratci=, although the sale dragged a' little at tho finish. Extra heavy show 'bullocks; to £23; extra, to £15 10s.; best, £10 IPs. to £11 10s.; medium, £9 to £9 55.; inferior. £7 ss. to £6 10s.; best cowa and heifers, £8 to £9; extra, £10 13s.;' medium, £6 lus. to £7; inferior, £5 to £5 15s. Fat sheep: 6000 pcened. This large cittry comprised medium quality wethers and ewee, with a few pens of extra heavy sheep. Prices for prime ewes and wethers wero fully equal to last week's rats, but for medium and unfinished sorts, competition was crratic, and prices showed a slight decline on last week's values. Extra heavy show wethers, to £2 95.; extra heavy show ewes, to £1 17s. 6d; best wethers, £1 4s. to £1 6s. 6d> extra, to £l'Bs.'9d.; medium, £1 to £1 Is. 6d.: inferior, 17s. to IBs. Bd.: best ewes, £1 2s. to ■£l"3s. 6d.; extra, £1 ss. 6d.; medium. 16s. 6d. to 18s.; inferior. 10s. Bd. to 13s. -Fat lambs: 45C0 penned.- An unusually heavy entry. ''Exporters, were competing lieenly. but prices wore hardly as igood as those ruling last wcelc. Mcdftim and inferJ'jr lambs were difficult to dispose of. There was a. large -warding of fat pigs, and prices were high at the start of the sale, but eased off .afterwards. Thore was a small yarding of stores, and prices were better than last week's rates.
