WAITARA HARBOUR BOARD.
CONCERNING AN APPOINTMENT.
At a recent meeting of \the Waitara ' Harbour Board, a protest wVis signed by n number of members of the board who objected to the Hon. W. T. Jennings pro- • sitiing as chairman, oil the 1 groiuid that his appointment as a member of tho Wai-"' tarn Harbour Board was invalid and illegal. It is stated that the protest was in . due course forwarded to tho 11 mister •lor. Marine (the Hon. F. M. B. Fishor), and that the matter has been referred to the Crown Law Department, and a. decision given to tho cflsct that Mr. Jennings s appointment was quite illegal and quito invalid, and that tho Minister for/ Maruio lias called upon liim to resign from' tho board, intimating that unless ho does so proceedings will havo to bo taken to tomove him from office. The foregoing was referred to tho lion. F. M. 15. Fisher, who said that h» was not in a position to make a statement ou ® the subject just at present, but that there would probably be a vacancy 011 the Waitara Harbour Board before very long. Mr. Jennings was appointed as a member of tho Waitara Harbour Board by the Ward Administration in 1911.
