THE CAMP CANTEEN.
—4 SHOULD IT BE RESTORED? By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Brisbane, May 28. The Licensed Victuallers' Inter-State Conference resolved that, in the interests of true temperance, it is desirable that military camp canteens should be restored. fA report presented by the Committee of the Presbyterian Assembly, sitting in Melbourne last week, protested against tho proposed endeavour by military officers to have the camp canteen restored, allegedly because the recent "dry" camps were marked by misconduct such as had disgraced no previous military operations. The report asked the Defence Department to mako thorough inquiries before moving in the matter, as a statement made to the committee by some of the most responsible officers declared that the. camps had never been more orderly or better conducted.] >
