PROTECTION AGAINST ASSASSINS. Paris, May 9. The most remarkable precautions were taken yesterday for the protection of King Alfonso (luring his journey to Fontainebleait, to witness tlio great military review- , Tho whole length of the railway from Paris to l'ontainblcau was lined with infantry, involving tho employment of 100,000 troops. At dawn . sentries were placed along tho track at intervals of 100 yards and there tliey remained until 5.30 in the evening. Every bridjjo had a guard of ten men. . . . Throughout tho morning patrols scoured the woods in the vicinity of wherd the review was taking place, and during the progress of tho manoeuvres a cordon of infantry, with fixed bayonets, and standing almost shoulder to shoulder, was posted around a whole square mile of Frjitoinebleau's famous iorest.—Sydney "Sun."
