There are still two sections of roadway lip* immediately to tho eastward of the ow bridge. One section is to be made through the Hutt Park by the loca bod.M concerned and the other-tho eastern-is to be constructed by tlio owners of tie fincefield Estate, whose land extends rougl.lv from the Hutt Park to the Lown Biv Hoad. The owners ot the Gracefield Estate liave already lodged their plans for the construction of their section of the road with the city engineer (Mi. W. n. Morton). These have bsen approved and s nt on to the Hutt Borough Council As soon as the latter body.'s approval s obtained, work will lie put 111 hand. The obifct of at least one of the local bodies interested is to see the through road eonstructed during tlio winter months in order that it may bo available for traffic ilm-ini next summer. ' Two policewomen have been appointed nf Ottawa. Their duties include meeting raihrav trains for the purpose of assis ing and guiding young women, and protecting cirls at picture palaces and other places 0 amusement. If their work proves successful, other Canadian cities wi 1 employ policewomen, mainly to assist girl immigrant*.
