STEAMER BLOWN UP.
IN VERY PERILOUS WATERS

Constantinople, May 25.
The steamer Nevada, flying the American flag, and owned by tho Hadjidaout Company, endeavoured, when leaving Smyrna, to prevent a collision with an incoming Russian steamer. Sho quitted the channel and ontercd mined waters. Her bows Btruck two mines in quick succession, and a third explosion followed within two minutes. ( It is not known whether the third was caused by a mine or by a boiler explosion.
The steamer foundered immediately. Of two hundred passengers, the French warship Bruix saved eighty.
A similar accident happened to the 6ame company's steamer Texas on April 30, 1912.
The Novada explosion occurred near whore tho Senegal was blown up the other day—outside the minefield.
It is feared that some of the mines have parted from their moorings.
Most of the passengers were Turkish refugees proceeding to Adalia.
An explosion capsized a French rescue boat, and three .persons were drowned.
Lloyd's agent at Constantinople states that forty persons were in the Nevada.
STRUCK ON LIZARD POINT. London, May 25,
The vessel Cromdale, with a cargo of nitrate from Taltal for Falmouth, was wrecked on Lizard Point during a fog. All the crew were saved.
[The Croindale, a steel vessel of- 1903 tons gross, was built in 1891 by Barclay, Curie and Co., Ltd., Glasgow. She was owned by D. Ross and Co., her port of entry being' Aberdeen.] WRECK OF A STEAMER. London, May 25. The steamer Maiorese, from Liverpool for Genoa, was wrecked, and four of the crow drowned. fTlie Maiorese, belonging to the Atlantic and Eastern S.S. Company, Ltd., was an iron vessel of 1739 tons, and was built in •1875.1 BOARD OF TRADE REGULATIONS. London, May 25. The Board of Trad 9 has issued minuto regulations for the mustering of crews and passengers whenever boats are lowered at sea.
