Massoy, Primo Minister, will leave for Auckland on Monday in order to bo present at tlio public welcome which is to 1» accorded tho Hon. James Allen when ho arrives at that port from Vancouver on Juno.3. Hie l'rimo Minister will bo absent only for a day or two, but, prior to tho meeting of Parliament ou Juno 26, ho will accompany Mr. Allen on n visit to Dunedin. Tho Hon. W.. H. Herries, Minister for Railways, mil go to Masterlon. to-day to rcprcsont tho Government at a banquet given by the Provincial Executive of tho Fanners' Union. Mr. Herries will return to Wellington bo-morrow. Tho Hon. It. H. Rhodes wiill leave for Auckland at tho end of tho week, and wliilo thero will go into tho question of obtaining a site for tho new St. Helen's Home, which it is proposed to erect in that city. Dr. Cleary, Bishop of Auckland, arrives in Wellington from the south by the Mararoa this morning. At last night"a meeting of tho Pctono Council (on tho motion of tho Mayor) tho clerk was instructed to forward a letter of condolence to Mr. Fox (Sewcrago Engineer), expressing deep regret at the loss of his son. The Hon. D. Buddo, member for Kaiapoi, will arrive from Lyttelton this morning.

Mr. W. R. Haselden, S.M., who has been on relieving duty in the South Island, is to succeed Mr. E. Page, S.M., in the Taihape district, Mr. Pago having, as previously reported, been ordered to transfer to Whangaroi, where he is to assist Mr. F. V. Frazor, S.M.

The Hon. H. D. Bell will leave for Dunedin on Friday night, and on Juno 3 will open the Otago A. and P. Society's Winter show. Mr. Bell will bo absent from Wellington for about a week.

Mr. James Ames, City Valuer, was sufficiently well yesterday to visit his offico at the Town Hall for an hour. His health has not been affected to any extent by tho roccnt operation on his ear. After a long and painful illness, telegraphed our Feilding correspondent last night, death came to Mrs. John Reid, of Awahuri Road, Fcilding, yesterday morning. Mrs. Reid and her husband (who died in July, 1811) were old colonists well known in the Oamaru, Palmcrston, Kopane, Bunnythorpe, and Fcilding districts. Tho family left to mourn tho loss

Mr. L. S. Bruce, secretary at Launoeston for tho Tasmanian Tourist Bureau, was to leave Auckland for Australia yesterday, after having spent several weeks in travelling through tho Dominion. Dr. W. C. W. M'Dowell and Mr. H. J. D. Mahon havo boon nominated to fill vacancies on tho Auckland University College as graduate members. Two members aro elected by graduates.

Mr. John Charles Manchee, president of tho Warrigal Club, and one of tho oldest and most successful gTaziers of New South Wales, died last week. Ho was born near Bristol, England, in 1832, and received his education at Da-rmstatdt, Germany. He arrived in Melbourne in J. 852, and, after visiting tho Bendigo goldfields, camo on to New South Wales. Probato has been gran-ted of tho will of tho late John Pagan, grazier, of Sunny Ridge, Jlandurawa, New South Wales, who died in September last. The value has been sworn at ,£257,970, and tho duty paid amounted to J82G.032. . Mr. Graham, Minister for Lands in Victoria, has announced his intention of retiring from politics at the end of the present-Parliament, in about 18 months' time. Mr. Graham, who is 73 yaws of age, has been a mombor of Parliament for over 30 years.
