Beetle's Polito Vaudeville Company, which lias been pleasing audieuccs at the Opera House (hiring tho week, will tlus evening presented an entire change ot programme. Those lively comedians \\nl Hockley aad Will White will be beard m new rug-time songs of tho catchiest order. Miss Ella Conrad, soprano, will introduce new ballads, and Jliss ltuby Raymond, Miss Lily Hockley, and Miss Ruby Cox will also produco new sopgs. Iresh specialty nets will bo presented by the Arteens, George Walton, Keilderson, and tho musical Bartletts.

THEATRE ROYAL. A Lriglit programme is at present being presented at tho Theatre lioyal, and every "turn" has its particular admirers in the audience. The Harmonious Iliixhams, the Seronuders, Miss Bentlio M'Donald, Sharrat nnd Lang, Amo and Almo, Jliss Irlllie Moor©, and Mr. lercy Dalton combine to produce n. really entertaining evening's enjoyment. HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. "The Lost Son" and "The Thief of Love" are two powerfully dramatic pictures now to be seen at His Majesty s Theatre. Anothor picture of special interest to those concerning themselves with town planning and oily beautifying is provided in some very beautiful /"ows or Bournville, the garden city established and maintained by Cadbury's, Ltd. Ihero will bo a matinee performance this afterncon. KING'S THEATRE. Last evening, at the King's Theatre, a benefit performance was given in aid. oi the funds of tho Lvnll Bay Surf Club. The programme included a good variety of animated pictures, such as "To Right the Wrong," "Natoosa," "Roderick's Ride," and "Mary in Stageland." There will lx> a special children's matinee performance this afternoon. TIIE NEW THEATRE. "Salmret," the beautiful Continental actress, will appear for the last time to-dny and to-night in "Behind tho Mask," tho "feature" of tho current programme of the New Theatre continuous pictures. This play is a meritorious achievement both, in plot and interpretation. Special subjects will be added for children this afternoon. On next Monday tho Selig Company's version of "Ten Nights in a Bar : rooni," a powerful drama, which wa9 a world-wide success a couple of decades age, will be produced.

COMBINED CONCERT. What is described by the promoters as "»■ long-felt want" is to be supplied to Wellington music-lovers by four very wellknoivn artists. The ensemble is as follows:—Herbert Bloy (violin), .-Baxter Buckley (piano), Frank R. "Johnstone ('cello), Hamilton Hodges (baritone). Such a combination is not often heard at ono concert, nnd a great treat is promised. Only a. few seats aro being reserved at 35., the other admission charges being 2s. and Is.

THE EMPRESS THEATRE. A last opportunity is offered this afternoon nnd this evening of witnessing the current programme of the Empress Theatre continuous pictures. Interest centres mainly upon the sensationaL foreign-spy. drama, "A Beautiful Traitor" —a production of exceptionally fine photographic quality, with n captivating plot. The film is artistically tinted, and tho merit of that work is particularly notice<nb!e in the elaborate ball-room scenes. Ono of the most thrilling episodes is the blowing-up of a steamer by a submarine mine. The minor subjects include:— "Orange Growing" (Lubin industrial), "Tho Sheriff's Daughter" (Western drama), "Tho Fairy Bottle" (trick film), and a selection of comedies. Tho regular complete change is arranged for Monday next. THE DANDIES. Mr. Edward BransoomWs English Costume Comedy Company, ''Tljo Dandies," fiesh troin their Australian succes c os will appear at tho Small Town Hall on Monday. "Tho Dandies" aro already known throughout Now Zealand, and so is Mr. Brausoombo, who has had no fewer than five companies of Dandies appearing under al fresco conditions in different parts of the Commonwealth during, the summor. These have to find nioro congenial quarters for tho winter? and the halls of Now Zealand aro found eminently suitablo for this class of work, nnd, incidentally, the field is considered a first-class one "The Dandies'" entertainment consists of highclass solo and part-singing, merry jests mid quips, five-minute playlets, short nnd bright pantomime sketches, eccentric and grotesque dancing, comicalities, etc. The whole provides a distinctive entertainment, and ono that must appeal to all classes of the community. The box plan is now open at tho Dresden. SUNDAY CONCERT. ' The concert to bo given by tho Wellington Citv Band to-morrow night, at His Majesty's Theatre, is expected to bo decided success. An excellent programme has been arranged, and tho band will bo assisted by Mrs. P. Foster, soprano, who will sing Tosti's "Good-bye/ etc., and Mr. C. V. Molir, lato of Melbourne, baritone, who will sing "Tho Bells of St. Mary's," etc. Mr. G. W. Glennie, champion trombone soloist of New Zealand, will give tlio solo with which ho won the championship. A silter coin, collection will bo made with a view to reducing the band's liabilities. "PUSS IN BOOTS." Tho J. C. Williamson, Ltd., management have now decided to close tho Opera House on Wednesday, Juno 4 (tho dato originally fixed for the opening performance, of "Puss in Boots"), in order that a full scenic and lighting rehearsal may bo held, and the initial New Zealand presentation of tho pantomimo will now take place oil Thursday, Juno 5. Tho w-holo of tho scenery and effects will arrive hero on Wednesday next in chnrgc of a large staff of mechanics and electricians, who will thus liavo over a week to preppro for the opening production. Owing to tho brevity of the New Zealand tour, only nine' 1 nights can be devoted to the Wellington season, and 'Tus3 in Boots" will tlien bo staged in the following centres:—Masterton, Monday, Juno 1G; Dannevirke, Tuesday, Juno 17; Hastings. Wednesday, Juno 18 (race night); Napier, Thursday and Friday, June 19 ami 20; Gisborno, Saturday, Monday, and Tuesday, June 21, 23. and 21; Auckland, Juno 26 to Julv 5; New Plymouth, Monday, July 7; Eltham, Tuesday. July 8; Ifawera, Wednesday, July 9; Wanganui, Thursday and Friday, July 10 and 11; Palmerston North, Saturday and Monday, July 12 and 11. "Puss in Boots" will then be staged in Christclmrch. The box plans for the country centres will bo opened three davs ahead of the opening date, and tlie plans for the Wellington senpoiij will br» opened at tho Dresden on Monday, June 2. WELLINGTON I.IEDERTAFEL. The members of the Liedertafel will give their first concert of the present season ou Thursday next in tho Concert Chamber of the Town llall, and an excellent programme has been arranged for tlie occasion. The choir will bo heard in a selection of glees and part songs. Tho assisting performers will be Miss Teresa M'Enroe, the well-known soprano vocalist, and Miss Reno Morris, a _ violinist, who is a great favourite in Christnhurch, bul. who will be new to a Wellington audience. The reserved seat plan opens at tho Dresden on Monday morning. CONCERT CHAMBER. At the Concert Chamber, last evening Mrs. .las. Hamuli and Mr. J. M.
