.. MRS. HAERISON LEE COWIE'S | VIEWS. | Probably there is no individual who carries greater weight with _the hulk of the members of tho W.C.T.U. than Mrs. Harrison Lee Cowie. In a recent letter from New South Wales, dated May 2, to a member of tho union' in New Zealand, Mrs. Harrison Leo Cowie expressed astonishment and distress at; tho decision of the union lenders at Nelson. In the course of her letter she fays:— "Tho actioa of the Convention has called attention to the Nelson system of Bible instruction, and caused many to wonder what ■arc* its advantages over tho Scripturo lessons as recommended by the Bible-in-Stato-Schools League. "I have taught in tho schools of New South Wales and Queensland every timo I havo/bcen on missions to these States, and liavo found tho existing system worked most harmoniously. This last week I have spoken ten times in the schools of Sydney suburbs during the hour for religious instruction. T. have had helping mo .Anglican, Methodist, and Congregational ministers, all working in splendid unity. "1 have talked to one inspector, one Roman Catholic headmaster, and teachers of different denominations, and, have found them all unanimous in thoir approval of the system. "When the ministers do not attend, the teachers give thoir Scripture lessons, and very beautiful lessons they are, well and wiselv selected. I am getting testimonies signed bv many of th' 2 religious instructors who* would liko to see tho same plan carried nut in New Zealand Mate school--. I do not think the Nelson system smyihiug to equal tho- liiMe-ui-Male-hcliuols system in tlieso States/' . MM. &Brlßoa flonw swsJai
