LORD ISLINGTON.

HIS WORK IN INDIA. A communication from the late Governor of New Zealand (Lord Islington) has been received by tho Mayor of Auckland (Mr. C. J. Parr), in which Lord Islington gives somo details of his movements during the next few months. The letter w«5 dispatched from Lahore. Lord Islington, who is president of tho Royal Commission; sitting in India foT the purpose of inquiring into the Public Services of that country, is having an exceedingly busy time, as the scope of the commisiosn covers tho inquiry into tho Civil Service, tho Railways, the Police, Education, and other Departments in India. According to his letter, Lord Islington will Teturn to England at tho end of May, and will again visit India next October to complete the investigations of the commission. Although engaged on such a big work, tho late Governor finds time to think of other matters. In his letter, he expn-ssed tho desire that Miss Inn Boswortli, tho talented young Auckland violinist, whom ho jiromised to help materially in her musical studies at Home, should bo in England prior to Octobc-r. to enable him to render tho assistance which ho promised. Concluding his letter, Lord Islington expressed the hope "that all goes well and prosperous with Auckland and its people.'
