Present indications are for moderate to strong southerly winds, with somewhat cold and fair to cloudy weather. The barometer will probably rise slowly everywhere. The barometer has risen about normal everywhere, with southerly winds strong to sale, but decreasing to-day. The affairs of Frank Denison Brown, who went bankrupt somo little time ago while in receipt of a salarv of ,£IOOO per milium, were again before the Court in Sydney last week. The Sinßer SewingMachinc Company, for which Brown had been manager in Australia, objected to his bfcing given a discharge by the Court, l'rom documents put in, it appeared incidentally that the rise of Brown in the company was rapid. He entered the servico of the Singer Manufacturing Co. in 1887, and came to New South Walrs in 1893 to relieve the then manager, who was in bad health. After about three o: fou.r months ho was appointed to tho full charge of tile business in Australasia ami Nitw Caledonia. .The Singer Manufacturing Co. was absorbed by, or transferred it-i business to, the Singer Machinc Co., in 1907, and Brown was then continued ns manager of the company up to early in 1912. When Brown first eamo to New South Wales lie received about .£IOO per annum, and was allowed commission and travelling expeusis. In 1891 his salary was .£296, commission .£822. and expenses or "travel"_.£G3l; in 1905 his salary was .£270, commission ,03798, expenses ,Ci'22 (including a trip to America). The following , year h? was put on a fixed salary of .£IOOO, and received thereafter no commission, his expenses or "travel" running to about tlio : same figure as previously. 1
