THE FRIEDMANN CURE.
CONDEMNED IN AMERICA. U.S.A. HEALTH SERVICE KEPOKT. Washington, May 10. Dr. Friedmann's method of treating tuberculosis has bceD / -iractically condemned by the United dtates health service, though the opinions in tho report aro cautiously expressed. Tho report was read by Dr. Anderson before tho Association for tho Study and Prevention of Tuberculosis. "~\Ve believe," says tho report, "that wo aro not in a'position to express an opinion based on tho present condition of tho patients wo havo observed, but tvo are in a position to state that the effects so far observed do not justify the confidence in the remedy which has been given by wide-spread publicity. _ • "l*lio reticence and vacillation of Dr. Priedmann havo not in any way been allowed to interfere with our judgment as to the effects of the remedy."
The report is signed by Dr. Anderson and Dr. Stimson.
Tho doctors add, apart from tho report: "In our opinion harm has been done by widespread publicity, because it has lessened tho confidence of tuberculous persons in the recognised methods of treatment, or has led to their interrupting tlieir use.
"We aro constrained to adviso persons against any lessening in the use of those well-known methods."
Concerning Dr. Priedmnnn's culture, tho doctors say: "Experiments have shown it.to.bo an organism having properties quite different to those of any tuberculin bacilli with which ive are acquainted."— Sydney "Sun."
