NAVY CAPTAIN ON TRIAL.

COURT-MARTIALLED FOR COLLISION DREADNOUGHT CENTURION. By Telegraph—Prcs3 Association-Copyright London, May 19. During her steam trials in the English Channel in December last,-the battleship Centurion, one of the latest super-Dread-noughts, collided with and sank tlis Italian steamer Derna, 2210 tons, owned by L. Mezzano, of Genoa.

The captain of the battleship, Captain Guy Gaunt, is now being tried by courtmartial.

The prosecution alleges that the Centurion's high speed at the 'time of the collision caused'the sinking of the Dsrna. The matter of speed < had not been properly considered. It also alleged that the battleship's course should havo been altered before and after tho collision, and that further search for the Derna should have been made after tho collision.

[When the collision' took place, the warship was travelling at a speed of twenty knots. The night was dark, and no trace could then be found of the illfated vessel. Later, a lamp found on tho battleship, led to the identity of the sunken steamer as the Derna." Only one body was recovered.]
