In a most interesting article on Autsmatisiu," contributed to the April number of tho "Practioner," Sir George H. Savage, M.D., F.R.C.P., tells a remarkable story of a case of doable personohtes. Prefacing tho narrative with tho remark that ho never savr the ptitiont, pd that he cannot verify or modify tho report, Sir Georgia eays:— "A man who had passed a brilliant stihool and university career entered tho Government Service. Ho started, for tho East in good health, but on a voyago ho was lost at Port Said, and as notliinf: was heard of him for months ho was supposed to havo been killed. After many nioath? his friends hoard that ho was in a state of destitution, far from where ho had landed. Ho could give no account of his conduct or his expericncos. lie returned to England, and alter careful nursing and rest lie was ready and willing to work. Ho 'had lost his Government appointment, but family interest, got him a private secretaryship in tho colonies, where lie rapidly snowed his ability and was valued highly. Suddenly he was lost agair,, and was absent for many months More he was discovered in povrrty and distress v? another quarter of the world; a second period of rest restored him, and once more ho started to make his way. This time ho started a ranch, and, with a bailiff, madb. it a great success, till once moro he was lost and again turned up weak and ill in another part of the world. It was then that I was consulted, and 1 was to se3 him on his return to KngJand. I next heard that he has bosn placed in an asylum. The doctor who consul!? d me died, and I never heard the sequel."
