AMOKUHA ARItIVES At 1.30 p.m. yesterday the Government training ship Amokura, arrived in port from Auckland, after occupying over a week to do the trip. The Amokura left Auckland at 11 a.m. on Monday last; and awing to the severity of the southerly gale, wa? only able to make very slow progress. She was forced to seek shelter under t.lio lee of Mahia Peninsula, hut the gale moderated suflieiently to allow of her reachins Wellington yesterday afternoon. KING OF TONGA'S YACHT. The new pleasure yacht Onclua., built in Auckland for the King of Tonga, sailed on her voyage of 1000 miles to Tonga yesterday afternoon, says our special correspondent. WEATHER ON THE COAST. Advices received by the Union Steam Ship Company yesterday state that the weather conditions at ijot-h Greyinouth and West-port nro again the reverse • of pleasant. With a westerly wind prevailing and heavy sens on the bars, thcro is at present little procpect of any movements on the West Coast. Tho Aiahura (according to Infest advices) is still InGroymouth, and an attempt, to cross the bar outwards will be made at 9 o'clock this morning. In conscciueuco of her delay at Greyinouth, the Arahura- is not expected to roach. Wellington until Thursday evening. She will probably omit Picton on tho way to Wellington. The rarao adverse conditions prevail at Westport-, where tho liaituna- remains, unable to get out.
NEW VESSELS IN DEMAND. Advices from London stato that although there arc paid to bo signs of a reaction in some departments of the country's industry, there are no indications eo far of a letriip in the shipbuilding trades. At tlio present time it is estimated that an agcregate of about 2,CM,C00 tout! gross of merchant ships are ill course of. construction in the United Kingdom. Yet there is still a brisk demand for tonnage. Most of tho contracts recently placed were for tramp steamers or oil-tankers, but the liner companies are now coming Into tiio market. Many of them, of course, already havo steamers on the docks, but during the kist few days orders have been given on an important scale, although it is known that delivery must be delayed for some time owing to the pressure of current orders. Barclay. Curio and Co., of Whiteineh, and Swan, ilunter and Wigliam Richardson, of Wallscnd,' arc to build six steamers for tho British-India Steam Navigation Company: Workman. Clark and Co., of Belfast, havo three vessels newly on order for the Bucknall Line; Cammeli. Laird and Co., of Birkenhead. have undertaken to build a large passenger shin for the Prince Lino: Harland and Wolff, of Belfast, five liners, of 12.000 tons each, for t.hc Hoyal Mail Steam Pnoket. Company's Panama service, and John Brown and Co., of Clydebank, a steamc for the Orient Company's Austria lian trade. This by no means exhausts tho list of new vessels that aro being ordered,—"Sydney Shipping List." H.M.S. PYRAMUS. Tho following programme of the H.M.S.
