The Kiwitea County Council at its last meeting resolved:—"(l) That the Government be asked for a grant of .£IOO to enablo the construction of a tourist track from tho Te Parapara Road to the top of the Ruahine Ranges. (2) That application be made to the Government for a grant sufficient for the construction of tho Gorge Road, Peei> o' Day." It is calculated that about COflp tons of potatoes will bo dug in Ihe Kimbolt nn district 'this season. An unusually, large number of the farmers have cultivated potato patches, and tho digger is greatly in demand. Some of the crops aro averaging up to 20 tons to the acre, and at least one crop has been sold at rCG a ton. The county roads are being severely taxed by the heavy wagon-loads of potatoes, and the question'of rail connection with Feilding is again being discussed.
