The crack jockeys, lOmerson mid Dceley, are riding at the latter meeting, and Oliver, who is close up to tiiem on tho winning list, will bo in the saddle at Wanganui. In all probability Cachuca, who is one of C. Pritc'hard's Trentham tcSim, will bo sent to Wingatui to race in tho steeplechases there. He has been regularly schooled on the local tracks, and jumps carefully. J. W. Scott has broken in Odessa's halfbrother, by Charlemagne 11. Tho rising two-yenr-old 'has grown into a very fine colt, and, in front, ho much resembles his relative. Undecided is still very sore behind as tho result of his recent trip from Blenheim. but ha is being given steady work at Trentham. This indicates that, if possible, lie will be a runner in tho Uaukawa Cup at Otaki.
Mr. H. AVhitney's mare. Aema, has gone sore, and is being treated to a spell at her owner's place in Kolburnc. Her placo in 'luirillo races will be taken by A'aumai, who jumps well, and Mediterranean, who will be qualified'for hunters' events.
Mira was the only Trentham-traincd animal entered for ( the Connolly Handicap at Wangauui. 'The grey horse, however, is not to make the trip.
At Trentham J. AY. Scott is schooling tho Porirua gelding Paremata, who is to race over hurdles at tho Olaki meeting nest month. In a gallop over fivo fences on Saturday morning tho bay acquitted himself well in a school with one ot" A. Crawford's team.
Tho Riccarton trainer W. Clarke is expected to go through to Wangauui to-day. He is taking two horses to the meeting. Most of tho Trentham horses which ato to race at Wanganui on Thursday and Saturday aro being railed north .this morning. Amongst tho number aro Kmitsi'ord, who will bo m tho steeplechase events by A. M'Connon. The Birkenhead gelciing lias been schooling ill a very satisfactory manner over the big fences. The ill-fortune which has followed the Porirua stable for some months past docs not seem at' an end yet. At tho last Trentham meeting tho useful Torbcllo got into a fence, and was very lamo afterwards, with tho result that his engagements were cancelled, and now word comes from Wangauui that Tnuira pulled up lame after schooling yesterday. Mr. Jas. Waldon, who has acted as racecourse detective for tho leading clubs during tho past two decades, is having for a trip to America and England by the Moana on Friday next. Yesterday afternoon ho was entertained at the fcmpiro Hotel, and presented with a purse of sovereigns, subscribed by followers of racing in this district. The services of A. Oliver liaVe been sccurcd for Gloy in the Cornwall Handicap at Ellerslic on Satiirday week. Chnrvillc, half-sister to the locallyowned mare Penza, was a dual winner at Taniworth (X.B. Wales) on April 29. She was ridden by_ C. Bolton, who, at one time, rodo in New Zealand. Elcctrakolf has shown 110 form since he was sent to Sydney. In tho Vlying Handicap at Rosehill on May 3 lie was weighted at Sst. 21b. in a weak Hold, but finished out of a place. Mr C F. Vallnnce, president of tho Masterton Racing Club, is at prcseht on a visit to Wellington. Tlie chestnut mare Renowned May, who is being qualified for hunters' events ahead, was ridden to hounds by her owner at Hutt on Saturday last.
