SUMMARY AND FORECAST.
Present indications are for a heavy westerly gale, veering to southerly. Heavy rain probable with rivers in high flood on the West Coast and southern districts. Snow on higher levels, and electrical disturbances may bo expected. Heavy seas in Cook and Foveauix Straita and on all the Western Coast, increasing also off the East Coast to-morrow. Barometer falling lower in the north, but rising in the south in about sixteen hours. A westerly storm area has to-day enveloped tho whole Dominion, and the barometer is unusually low. The winds are principally from the north, strong to gale, and rain i 3 falling on the We3t Coast and southern - districts, Queen6town reporting: snow. D. C. BATES. Masterton, May 19.—A mild, windy day.
