BIBLE-IN-SCHOOLS QUESTION. At the meeting of tho Wellington Christian Temperance Union, held yesterday afternoon, it was unanimously resolved: "That tho Wellington Central Ilranch of the union protests against tho attempt to forco teachers to give religious instruction without providing any conscience clause." Tho following resolution passed lit tlio' recent Nelson Convention was put forward as a motion and carried unanimously:— (a) "This convention, believing fully in tho children of New Zealand receiving religious instruction, urges that steps bo taken to incorporate tho Nelson system with tho Education Act, giving tlio ministers of religion and their certified appointees the right to use tho schools for the purpose of giving biblical instruction to cliildren. When parents object, their children to be exempted from attending Biblo lessons. The convention approves of this system, becauSo tho important work of giving religious instruction would be entrusted to those be=t nualified for tho task, and would not involve any risk of tho introduction of denominationalism, nor would tho liberty of tho conscience of anyone, cither parent or teacher, bo interfered with, (b) That this convention strongly disapproves of tho plntform of tho Blble-in-Schools League of Now Zealand."
