MASTERTON NOTES.
(From Our Special Correspondent.) Masterton, Hay lfl. At a meeting to-day of tho Masterton Cluimber of Commerce it was decided to havo a lithograph map prepared showing tho route proposed to bo travelled by tho Masterton-Waipukurau railway. Tho question of the shortage of railway triicks for tho conveyance of coal was brought before tho Cliamber by a local firm of coal merchants, and it was decided to make inquiries into tho matter. Tho chamber decided to ask tho Railway Department to reinstate tho smoking-car on the early train from Cross Creek to Woodvine. Tho annual meeting of voters of tlio Masiprlon Trust Lands Trust was held in (lie Town Ifall to-night. The meeting was chiefly remarkable for a spccch made bv Mr. A. W. Wagg in defence of the District High School and in opposition to what is known as tho High School party. At a. meeting of delegates of local bodies to-night arrangements were put in hand for entertaining the Minister for Public Works on his visit hero next week. It is proposed to bold a banquet on Wednesday night, and to convey tho MinisLer to Pongaroa on Thursday. As ye sow, so shall yo reap, applies t« Whisky as to every other thing in this world. Ltd., have received instructions from Mr. I). G. A. Cooper, Registrar of the Supremo Court, at Wellington, to sell by public auction at their rooms, Rangitikci Street, Palincrston North, on Saturday, May 31, at 1 p.m., three properties. Olio of these is of 219 acres, and is situated at Tiritca, about three miles from l'almerston North. Another property consists of II!) acres, and is situated aljout four miles from tho Levin railway station. Tho third farm is of 417 acres, and is situated near Levin. Full particulars may bo had from tho auctioneers.
