■ ■ . NEW "SEASIDE" UNION FORMED. (By Telegraph— Press- Association.) I Timani, May IG. ' The steameT liia Ora is loading mutton amd tallow for London. She was worked this morning by fifty free Labourers. The latter held a meeting at noon, and formally formed a Seaside-Workers' Union, to be registered under the Arbitration Act. It is also stated that a big movement is cfoot to form a registered union of slaughtermen who took the place of tho slaughtermen on strike and Smitlifield. in sympathy with whom tho Timani watersiders went on'strike. It is not known what the latter are do- • *ing. They held a number of meetings this morning, at which Mr. Webb (president of the' Federation of Labour) was present. . NORTH ISLANDERS GO SOUTH. Gisborne, Msiy 18. . About twenty who have been i engaged at tho local freezing works, where tho season is now closing, proceeded to 1 Canterbury this week to take up work at Pareora. COULD NOT WAIT FOR THEM. Timaru, May 16. The steamer Kia Ora arrived this morning to load 30,000 carcases, and other freezer goods. At the time for starting work the unionists Were at a meeting with Mr. P. C. Webb. The agents did not waitifori'thehYi-bnt formed'all gangs / required from'free-labour.
