The Prime Minister, tho Hon. W. P. Jlassev, left Wellington for Christchurch last night. Ho will probably return on Sundav morning. The Hon. W. Praser is at i'aeroa, the Hon. W. 11. Hcrries at Greymouth, tlie Hon. A. L. Herdman at Auckland, the Hon. R. H. Rhodes at Christchurch, and tho other Ministers are in Wellington. Tho Hon. W. Praser has, states our Mastcrlon correspondent, telegraphed that he will visit Masterton on Wednesday next, and proceed to Pongaroa, returning thence to Eketalmna. It is expected that he will be accompanied bv Dr. Newman and Mr. A. E. Mabin, chairman of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce. Tho Hon. IV. H. Merries, minister for Railways, returned from his visit to tho lteofton line yesterday afternoon, and received various deputations on local matters. Last night he was entertained by Greymouth local bodies at a complimentary social, at which there was a very largo attendance.—Press Association. Mr. D. H. Guthrie, M.P. for Oroua, was a visitor to Wellington yesterday. Mr. W. D. Murdoch, second-assistant engineer in the Wellington City Engineer's department, has been granted six months' leave of absence on full pay, alul has also been appointed the accredited representative of the city at the International Road Congress, and at the Imperial Motor Transit, Conference, to be held at London shortly. Mr. P. W. Burbidge, an old boy of Clio Jlomit Cook Boys' .School, has been successful in winning- an ISSI Exhibition Scholarship, and will leave for England I*ll Jul v. At the Mount Cook School ho gained"nil three scholarships for which ho competed.' Theso carried him to Wellington College, where he was twico dux.
