MASTERTON NOTES.
(From Our Special Correspondents.) Masterton, May 15. Tho first of n series of lectures by Dr. Archer Hosking, under the auspices of tho Masterton branch of the St. John Ambulance Brigade, was delivered last night in the Dominion Hall, when twenty-five members were present. At a meeting of the Masterton branch of the Butchers' Union last night, Mr. Rippon was appointed secretary, and Mr. M'lntosh president. A number of members of the Masterton Gun Club took p-art in the opening of the season by the Carterton Club this afternoon. The new fishponds at Sol way are practically completed,, and hatching operations will commence early next month. At a meeting last night of the management committee of the Wairarapa Hockey Association, a challenge was received from the Manawatu Association to contest the Nordon Cup. As 110 notification had come to hand from the New Zealand Association, a date for the match could not be arranged. Mr. A. C. Pragnell was appointed solo senior selector, and Messrs. Rosson. Fisher and Gayfer a junior selection committer. Arrangements were made to hold the annual tournament 011 June ,1.
