In connection with the strike among tho members of tho Amalgamated Workers' Association, employed by the Federal Government, a few of the men have returned to work rather 'than risk tho losing of their positions in the railway service. The carpenters returned, but objected to work with 'the men who broke away from tho local union. They wero then peremptorily dismissed. The Administrator of the Northern Territory (Dr. Gilruth) considers that there is now no striko as far as the Government is concerned, and the vacancies in the service will bo filled.

AN UNFOUNDED RUMOUR. DARLING HARBOUR RAILWAY PORTERS. (Rec. May 14, 10 p.m.) Sydney, May 11. After a mass meeting of railway porters (who, a message s'tated yesterday, resented the'severity of the fines imposed on the strikers who were proceeded against in connection with the recent dispute at Darling Harbour), a prominent union official declared that 'there was going to be no strike. The reports of a further threatened trouble were, lis said, without foundation.
