Foster, a wooden four- j masted schooner of tons gross, was on hor way from Puget Sound to Suva with a million feet of lumber, when she was caught in a hurricane off Turtle Island, in the Lau group, on April 15. The force of the hurricane completely disabled the vessel, all Ihe boats were damaged, and a third of the cargo was swept away. Captain Hillman and the crew ot" ten men then built a rait and abandoned the ship.]
