PLUMBERS' REGISTRATION BOARD.
MR. W. 11. MORTON APPOINTED. Mr W. H. Morton, Wellington City Engineer, lias been appointed by his hxcellencv the Governor to be the engineer member upon the Plumbers Registration Board of Now Zealand, lwcntj-twc boiou*hs. with a population of oyer 0000, Slid the drainage boards of Uirislchurch and Dunedin, had the right of sendin„ in nominations for fhe position. It is understood that. Mr. Morton s nomination was supported by a number ot local authorities besides the Wellington City of members to represent respectively the Master Plumbers federation and the Employees' l-cderation on the board are now m progress 1-or the position of representative of the master plumbers, the following have been nominated bv the associations indicated Messrs. Thos. Bollinger (Gisborno), Alex. Hurt "junr. fChristchurch and Tiniaru), Tho=! Courtcnay (Auckland), Jas. S. Douglas (Dunedin). and C'has. W. Martin Ov elliniton). Ballot-papers have been issued to'the members of tho various affiliated associations, and are lo bo returned not iaier than noon oil May 10, to the president of the Now Zealand Federation of Master Plumbers. The envelopes containin" the ballot-papers aro to be sent to Mr ifai'le Giles (Conciliation Commissioner at Auckland),, who will act as returning officer. It is expected that the result of the election will bo announced about May 2!5. , . ... The operative plumbers in the Wellington district have nominated Mr. 11. Thompson, and Mr. .T. Clark has been nominated e,t Auckland.' ■ : 'I'll.-. Plumbers' Uegistration Board is to consist in all of five members. Besides the two elected members and tho engineer imnoinled by the Governor, it will include tho Chief Health Officer for tho I imo liein<r and the Injpectoi'-Goneral of Schools- The board will control the issue of plumbers' licenses in all. parts ol the Dominion, so abolishing the -".yj-tein in Vo"Ue under which licences, entitling a plumber to work only in a certain municipal area or connlry distncl, are issued bv local authorities all over the countrv/ which levy a varying scale ot fro*, 'numbers licensed under l ie authoritv Of fhe board will be en tilled lo pursue their calling in any part of the Dominion. ■
