CITY ELECTRIC LIGHT.
RETURNS FOE MONTH OF APRIL. A summarised statement of revenue and expenditure of the City .Corporations Electric Lighting Department during tiio month of April was laid before the tramways and Power Station Committee of the City Council yesterday by the engineer, Sir. Stuart Richardson. Following is the statement with comparative figures for tho same month of lost veal':April April 1913 1912 X £ £ . Revenue 5,477 4.535 912 inc. Working expenses 2,005 2,312 271 dec. Capital charges ... 1,401 1.401 — Credit balance ... 1,951 732 1,219 inc. "This shows that the revenue has increased by .£912, as compared with last year. I would point out, however, that as Easter came in April, 1912, and this year in March, last year's ravenuo shows somewhat unfavourably due to tho holidays having affected the number of meters read in that month. "During tlie month 102 new connections were made, the total number of connections to the mains now being as lol-lows-.—Lighting. U11S: power, 302; heating, 1209; total, 7980. The total increase in connections during the last twelve months amounts to 1280. r ■ "The total units solil for lipliling. power, and heating during the month nf April, amounted to 217,000, as compared willi 198,191, units for the corrospondins month year.
